Today's weather trivia: 24 September

1926: Torrential rains and gale-force winds raked southwest Ontario. In the
Niagara area, almost-ripe peach trees sustained huge losses. In Milton, 72
mm of rain left gardens and farmland underwater, cellars flooded, and creeks
overflowing. In Petrolia, a cyclone tangled communication wires, wrecked
houses, toppled oil derricks, brought cars to a standstill, and blew a truck
off the highway.
