      We had a pretty good day here yesterday with temps reaching the middle teens.There were some showers and thunder to the north of us in the late afternoon but none of them moved into our area.We did get a few drops of rain in the evening.

      Overnight the sky cleared and today is expected to be warm and sunny.Next week is looking rainy at this point.

      Yesterday was a very nice sunny day here with afternoon temps reaching +19°C.The evening was seasonable and clear.Overnight some fog moved on shore and today is expected to be rainy and there is the possibility of thundershowers.The weekend is looking pretty good so far.

April 23,2004: Winds close to 100 km/h toppled a Leduc, AB, landmark-a 99-year-old spruce tree that had been transplanted twice to make way for a strip mall. A crew with a crane replanted the tree just a day after they'd transplanted it from a private lot and just hours after winds ripped it up again.       We had a very nice day here yesterday with afternoon temps near +17°C.It was once again a little windy but that died out by sundown and the eveing was clear and calm.Temps dropped to the mid-single digits in the evening and remained there overnight.

      We may see a little rain today but currently it is 100% clear here.Temps are expected to remain warm and we should get close to +20°C again today.

Today - Sunny with cloudy periods. 30 percent chance of showers early this morning. Wind becoming southwest 20 km/h this morning. High 10 except 17 inland. UV index 5 or moderate.

Tonight - Increasing cloudiness this evening. Fog patches developing this evening. Low plus 4.

      Yesterday turned out to be a much nicer day than forecast.The afternoon temps were in the +15°C range and it was sunny.The wind was a bit brisk but did not carry a chill with it.The evening was clear and seasonable.Overnight the temps dropped to close to freezing but we are expecting sunny and warm weather for the next couple of days.

Today -- Sunny. High 9 except 14 inland. UV index 5 or moderate. 

Tonight -- Cloudy periods. 30 percent chance of showers overnight. Wind southwest 20 km/h becoming light overnight. Low plus 4.

April 21,1855: A vicious wind storm struck the harbour in Collingwood, ON. Found among the strewn debris were broken planks, roof parts, bedding, and stove pipes. Three boats were tossed inland and smashed to pieces. Ice more than a 0.5 m thick crashed into the pier. The harbour water rose and fell 1.5 m in less than 5 minutes.       It wasn’t much of a day here yesterday.We had cool temps with the max at only about +9°C,a few showers and some gusty winds.Temps remained mild overnight and the wind has died out.More showers are a possibility for this morning ansd then we should see some clearing.The rest of the week is looking like it will be cloudy but seasonable.

Today --- A mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers this morning. Wind northwest 20 km/h. High 9. UV index 5 or moderate.

April 20,1897: A gang of wood labourers were asleep in a tent 12 km from Rossland, BC, when they were overwhelmed by an avalanche. One survivor had been awakened by what he thought was a derailed train car. He went to investigate and almost immediately a mass of snow, rocks, dirt and trees came down, completely covering his tent. Miraculously, his tent mates survived, although 7 men in the camp died.

Liverpool,Nova Scotia - The cool weather stays for another day or so

      It looks like we were the warmest place in the province yesterday.Afternoon temps here were about +7°C and there were a few light showers.Other parts of the province had snow and there was enough to make driving conditions poor.Overnight the clouds moved out of the area and it is 100% clear here this morning.

      Another couple of days of this cool weather is expected and then we should be back to more normal conditions.

      If it’s clear at sunset,we may see some spectacular colors over the next few days thanks to the Iceland volcano.Some of the dust is making it’s way into our area and flight restrictions are now in place in St.John’s,NL.

Today -- Cloudy. Showers beginning this morning. Amount 2 to 4 mm. Wind northwest 20 km/h becoming north 30 gusting to 50 this morning. High 6. 

Tonight -- Cloudy periods with 60 percent chance of showers. Wind north 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming northwest 20 late this evening. Low plus 4.

April 19,1927: Mild weather across southern Alberta, with temperatures exceeding 25°C, prompted ranchers to let their stock out to graze on the prairie. During a blizzard near Coronation, AB, a herd of cattle wandered onto the weakening ice of a frozen pond. It took 24 hours to free the animals, and 20 head were lost.

      Yesterday was quite cool with the afternoon high at only about +8°C.There was very little change though the evening and more of the same is expected for the next few days.We may see a warm up by mid week when temps are expected to be back to more seasonal values.

In one serious accident a person fell 6 floors through the steel frame of a building, landed on a wooden form for concrete structures, but then got up and walked to an ambulance.

The constellation Crater, the cup, dribbles across the south on spring nights. Eight stars outline the cup, but they are so faint that you need a fairly dark sky to see any of them. That is only because they are a great distance away, though.
