Yesterday was a real winter day here.Temps were near -10°C and the wind was very strong from the N and NW.Windchills were in the -20°C range.
It was somewhat better here than other parts of the province where a lot of people had to endure the cold with no power and they had a lot more snow.We only had a slight amount of snow but,as one would expect,it is frozen solid.
From today's Chronicle Herald:
Winds reached a Herculean 195 kilometres per hour along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, near Grand Etang, 124 km/h in Yarmouth, 104 km/h in Halifax and 90 km/h in most of the rest of the province. Temperatures everywhere rose slightly above freezing in the early hours of Monday before diving to about –5 for the rest of the day, except in the Sydney area where the thermometer hovered around zero.
Over 100,000 customers were without electricity at various times Monday.

The wind has finally died out and temps are expected to moderate overnight and be above freezing by tomorrow morning with rain in the forecast.Rainy and mild weather is expected for Chrismas Day.
