Wind warning for
Queens County issued
Northwesterly winds gusting to 90 km/h will develop Sunday afternoon and
evening.
A low pressure system along the eastern seaboard is forecast to intensify as
it moves towards the Maritimes tonight and Sunday.
Rain will develop tonight in the tri-county area and spread northeastward
overnight, reaching Cape Breton Sunday morning. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 70
millimeters can be expected by Sunday evening for most of Nova Scotia.
Strong easterly winds will develop ahead of this storm with gusts to 80 km/h
expected along coastal areas, winds will strengthen behind the low to 90
km/h from the northwest in the wake of the low.
In addition higher than normal water levels and pounding surf can be
expected along the western shore Sunday afternoon. Elevated water levels are
expected Sunday night along north facing coastlines of Pictou Antigonish
counties including St Georges bay and Cape Breton.
