Yesterday was a very hot day here with humidex readings a few degrees into
the 30s.Temps remained quite warm overnight but did cool to more bearable
readings.More of the same type of weather is expected for the rest of the
week with the possibility of some shower activity on Thursday and Friday.

Today's Weather Trivia:
2008: Over a 6-week period, Victoria recorded a paltry 0.6 mm of rain.
Gardeners groaned but hikers thrilled at trekking the usually mucky Cape
Scott Trail. Tofino had water restrictions. Conditions here were even drier
than 2 years ago when the town trucked in water. The fire hazard was high to
extreme. Luckily temperatures hovered near seasonal averages. Otherwise
forests might have been ablaze.

1856: Lightning struck a house in Chatham, NB, killing 2 young girls. The
father of one of the girls threw a barrel of flour on the fire from an
upstairs window. He then took his injured wife outside, where she told him
that both girls were dead. He went back in and saw them standing at a table,
holding dishes. As soon as he touched them, they both fell dead.

The planet Mercury pops into view about 30 or 40 minutes after sunset. It's
bright, but it's also quite low in the sky, so it's tough to see through the

We had some rain yesterday morning but it ended by noon and the afternoon
