Today’s Weather Trivia:

20 February 1960: A blizzard stranded 1,500 motorists between Toronto and Barrie, ON. Two soldiers asphyxiated in their stalled car, while some buses went missing, one in a 3-m drift. An expectant Stouffville mother was told to find a horse and sled to get to a hospital, and in Barrie, stranded motorists were offered jail cells. In Ottawa, a 21-gun salute to honour the new prince's birth had to be cancelled.--Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
