Today's weather trivia: 14 January
1907: Heavy snow and bone-chilling cold made life miserable in Edmonton, AB.
The Edmonton Journal noted: "It's been a week of mufflers and fur coats, of
icicle moustaches and frost-rimmed eyebrows, of frozen windows on Jasper
Avenue and frozen water jugs in the shacks and tents." The intense cold
turned water in a fire hose to slush. Some families burnt straw and
furniture to stay warm.
