Today's weather trivia: 7 November

1913: The ship Regina sank on Lake Huron, killing all 20 crew members. In
all, 15 ships went down over a 4-day period, drowning 248 men in what became
known as the "Storm of the Century"-the greatest disaster ever to hit the
Great Lakes. At the peak of the storm, 145 km/h winds and 10.5-metre waves
pummeled the shore. Ironically, until then, trade magazines had been
celebrating a safe shipping season.
