Today’s Weather Trivia:

8 December 1906:1906: A nasty storm left thousands of cattle to perish on the Prairies. That summer was the shortest growing season on record and, consequently, ranchers had little hay to tide over their herds. Hundreds of carcasses were left behind. Up to 10,000 head of cattle grazing on the banks of the Belly River in the Lethbridge, AB, area, drifted away just before and during the blizzard. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
