Today’s Weather Trivia:

30 November 1910:1910: The season's worst marine accident occurred near Sault Ste. Marie, ON, in a driving snowstorm. A Great Lakes tug going to assist a steamer ashore on St. Martin's reef was cut in two by the CPR steamer Athabasca, upbound in the blinding snow. The tug sank in 2 minutes, with the loss of 3 persons. The steamer's crew saved 6 on the tug and stood by until no hope remained for the other 3.– Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
