Today’s Weather Trivia:
28 August 1900: The worst storm ever witnessed in Souris, MB, lifted the town rink off its foundation and carried it about 10 m. It demolished another large skating and curling rink and turned the grandstand upside down. The tower of the Roman Catholic Church and the front of a brick store were also blown down. Houses were now short of chimneys. Hardly a stook of grain was left standing. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
