Today’s Weather Trivia:
8 February 1867: A drenching rainstorm combined with fast-melting snow raised stream levels to flood stage in southern New Brunswick. The strong flow pushed small buildings from their foundations and destroyed several bridges, including a suspension bridge at Norton, one of the "neatest" constructions in the county. Two days later temperatures plunged more than 40 degrees, encasing roads and rail lines in ice.--Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
