1867: A severe windstorm in southwestern Ontario sunk the steamer Hero and
grounded the River King in the St. Clair River. The wind caused considerable
damage to buildings in London, Hamilton, and Toronto. In London, a large
tree crashed onto a school shortly after the teacher dismissed the children
early.
