Today's Weather Trivia:
18 April 1893: A journalist's account of "bucking snow" on the railroad:
Between Craik and Saskatoon [SK], I counted 195 "snow tunnels," ... from 200
yd. to half a mile [long]. I stood ... on ... drifts and stepped ... to the
roof of the locomotive ... The engine struck a drift with such force [that
it threw a block of snow] ... 50 ft. ... that ... 3 men could not move. We
shovelled and "bucked" ... through 44 drifts. -Excerpt from 'The Canadian
Weather
Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

The Moon lines up with the "claws" of the scorpion tonight. As they rise in
late evening, the star Zubenelgenubi, "the southern claw," is just to the
left of the Moon, with Zubeneschamali, "the northern claw," farther to the
left. Today they are part of the constellation Libra.
