Today’s Weather Trivia:

8 February 1895: A vicious storm moved into the Great Lakes area, the snow and wind impeding travel. Near Toronto, ON, the Grand Trunk train from Chicago, 5 hours late, was stuck fast. Blinding snow foiled a brakeman's attempt to signal the train from London and it ran into the Chicago train with great force. Fires broke out. Several people died or were injured; many were pulled through windows to safety. -Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
