18 November 2010 - Conditions at 6:33 AM: 8.8C, Overcast, Wind: WSW 37 gust 49 km/h

Yesterday was warm but quite wet here yesterday with some showers and periods of heavy rain in the late afternoon.Temps were in the low teens.There was some clearing in the evening but more rain is expected today.

Cooler weather will begin to move in tomorrow and we may even see a few flurries next week.

A mix of sun and cloud. 30 percent chance of showers this morning. Wind west 40 km/h gusting to 60. Temperature steady near 9.

Cloudy periods. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 becoming northwest 20 gusting to 40 near midnight. Low plus 1.

Friday

A mix of sun and cloud. Clearing near noon. Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50. High plus 5.

Cloudy. Low minus 3. High plus 3.

Today’s Weather Trivia:

18 November 1958:1958: A day-long blizzard raged across southern Manitoba, blocking all roads in and out of Winnipeg with upwards of 50 cm of snow. The RCMP called it the worst traffic tie-up in Winnipeg's history. Hundreds of commuters started out for work on foot. Motorists who managed to dig out their cars were quick to pick up hitchhikers.   • The Pleiades star cluster passes high across the south at midnight. If you see the cluster out of the corner of your eye, it looks like a bright smudge of light. But look straight at it and you will see six stars that form a tiny dipper shape.
