Today’s Weather Trivia:

13 November 2007:2007: A storm packing gusts of 120 km/h tore across the Prairies. Trees snapped like toothpicks, power lines fell, and hairdos whipped into tangles. At Morley, AB, winds blew the roof off the Nakoda Lodge. SaskPower said the gusts affected performance of its 116 wind turbines near Swift Current. Motorists tightly gripped their steering wheels for fear of being blown off the road. – Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada

The Moon is at first quarter today, indicating that it is one-quarter of the way through its month-long cycle of phases. Sunlight illuminates half of the lunar disk that faces Earth, so it looks as though someone has sliced the Moon in half.

AURORA (‘Northern Lights’) WATCH: Auroral activity will be quiet.
