  • Today's Weather Trivia:

26 March 1830: Halifax was hit by one of the most violent snow storms and destructive gales on record. Tidal water entirely covered all the wharves, wetting everything, including the lower floors of almost every house near the water. Rising waters swept away homes, wharves, and a distillery, and killed 2 fine horses. Damage was also done to the naval yard, particularly the wall in front of the Naval Hospital..– Excerpt from 'The Canadian Weather Trivia Calendar' by David Phillips. © Environment Canada
