Queens County

Tropical storm warning for
Queens County issued
Strong southerly winds and heavy downpours are expected Sunday and Sunday
night.
A tropical storm warning means that sustained gales...Winds of 63 km/h or
more...Are expected in the specified areas within 24 hours. By nature a
tropical storm also implies the threat of local flooding from heavy
rainfall.
Hurricane Irene is currently located near Cape Hatteras and it is expected
to become post-tropical before it tracks through Northwestern New Brunswick
on Monday morning.
A tropical storm warning is in effect for western mainland Nova Scotia. Rain
at times heavy will begin in Southwestern Nova Scotia Sunday morning and
will reach Cape Breton by Sunday evening. Currently 30 to 40 millimeters of
rain is forecast. It is possible that rainfall warnings may be issued as
Irene approaches.
Also strong southerly winds gusting up to 100 km/h will begin Sunday evening
for mainland Nova Scotia. Les suete winds gusting up to 100 km/h are
expected Sunday evening for the Cape Breton Highlands.

Queens County issued

This is a warning that significant rainfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system over New England early this morning will approach the Maritimes today. The low is expected to slowly pass south of Nova Scotia tonight and Tuesday. Periods of rain ahead of the low can be expected over much of mainland Nova Scotia today and tonight. This system carries the potential for a heavy rainfall event for much of mainland Nova Scotia although there is considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will get in excess of 50 mm at this time. For the time being total rainfall amounts of anywhere from 40 to 60 mm are forecast for mainland Nova Scotia with lesser amounts expected for Cape Breton.

It's been a little...

busy here lately and I had to leave the blog slide.
