Calm and Clear

It was not too bad here yesterday.The temp reached 0° in the daytime and some melting,although slight,was evident.The evening was quite cool with temps down to -7° and a stiff breeze from the NW.
This morning it is colder than it's been for awhile but still seasonable.Today is expected to be sunny and cool.A warmup is on the way for tomorrow with some precip in the forecast.It looks like another 'usual for us' event...more snow and rain.

Typical January Weather

There's not much to report about yesterday.Temps were a few degrees below zero and the wind was rather brisk all day.The snow we had on Monday is now frozen fast to most surfaces.Last evening was clear,-5°C and the wind had calmed to just a slight breeze.

Today is expected to be a typical winter day with flurries and temps near 0.

Wintery Weather

We had quite an interesting day here yesterday however it could have been worse.The precip began as freezing rain/hail at around 1PM and then changed to snow around 4PM mixed with a little hail occassionally.The wind was also quite strong.Most of the precip ended by 9PM and the wind died down.Total accumulation in this area was minimal with basically just enough to cover the ground and road surfaces.As with all storms,there were a few weather related traffic mishaps but none were serious.

This morning it is cold and windy.Some flurries are expected throughout the day with no significant amounts in the forecast.

Update 2

 

Afternoon Update

Well the precip finally began.There were a couple of light 'snow showers' around 9AM and then more steady precip after noon.So far,it is mostly in the form of hail with no accumulation on the ground and the streets are OK.
 
The current conditions here on the Hill:
temp is presently at -2°C
wind is brisk NE
precip is a very light hail/snow mix.

Yesterday was pretty nice here with temps around 5°C and lots of sun.The proverbial calm before the storm,apparently.Later today we are expecting snow possibly mixed with,or changing to,freezing rain.So far there is nothing happening here but some precip is appearing on the radar in the far western parts of the province.There are no weather warnings in effect at this time.
I have to get an early start on things today so will be updating later on the storm's impact on this area.

Stormy Weather Approaching

Yesterday was another mild day with temps in the upper single Celcius degrees.The wind was light and there was no precip.The evening stayed above freezing under clear skies.Overnight the temps dropped to a few degrees below freezing to where it is currently.Today is expected to be a pleasant day.Some inclement weather will be moving into the area tomorrow and staying until Wednesday.
